  • Dates for these positions: June 21–August 2, 2024
    Summer salary for these positions starts at $6,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Senior Leadership Team reports to and supports the Camp Director to run all aspects of camp including supporting campers, managing team members, and helping with camp programs and operations.

    Key duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Supporting the Camp Director with daily functions of camp and team management

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety, well-being, and enjoyment by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Developing and facilitating professional development trainings during team orientation and daily team meetings

    • Assuming any role on the team in case of emergency or unforeseen circumstances

    • Assuming a leadership role at camp by ensuring campers and team members have what they need; ensuring team members know and are being held accountable to their job expectations; and supporting with supervision and oversight like doing evening dorm checks, supporting at a station during meal times, and more.

    Desired skills & experience:

    • A high school diploma; college degree or some college credit strongly preferred

    • Experience working with kids entering grades 4–9 in education, afterschool/summer programs, and/or other youth development settings strongly preferred

    • Experience managing and training adults strongly preferred

    • Strong leadership, organizational, communications, and problem-solving skills coupled with a positive, creative, flexible, and energetic attitude

    • Demonstrated ability to manage and work well in teams

    Assistant Director
    The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Camp Director with Senior Leadership Team and Team accountability as well as need-based tasks throughout the summer.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Take initiative, notice gaps, and help to address them throughout the summer

    • Assist the Camp Director in the day-to-day functions of campers, including family communication, management of the camp nurses, and vendor relations as well as ongoing communication and relationships with other members of the Senior Leadership Team

    • Role and responsibilities will vary based on the capacity and needs of the Camp Director

    Head of Programs
    The Head of Programs is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the camp program including day-to-day activities, electives, and evening activities; special days and field trips; and team development and management to support all programming.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Creating and managing the camp program schedule and calendar

    • Ensuring execution of the daily camp program

    • Developing and facilitating professional development trainings during team orientation and daily team meetings

    • Managing Activity Department Heads and Activity Counselors

    • Evaluating camp programs in collaboration with the Camp Director

    • Collaborating with the Head of Operations to ensure all program supplies are purchased and prepared each day

    • Planning and facilitating evening programs

    • Planning and executing camp special days and field trips

    Head of Discovery
    The Head of Discovery is responsible for planning and facilitating social-emotional learning activities and related programming each day.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Creating a social-emotional program that helps our campers learn about themselves, their identity, their purpose, and their current and future place in this world

    • Identifying camp values of the day and developing daily lessons and activities that correlate to those values

    • Managing daily camp awards for recognizing campers who best exemplify the day’s value

    Head of Operations
    The Head of Operations is responsible for creating and managing systems to support day-to-day camp programming and operations.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Organizing and maintaining organization of the camp office, equipment, and materials

    • Managing the planning, training, and execution of camper and team arrival and departure days

    • Supporting day-to-day programming of camp including set up and implementation of all daytime and evening camp activities

    • Managing all pre-camp ordering and securing and overseeing all external vendors (e.g., laundry, coach buses, out-of-camp trips, etc.)

    • Assisting with the logistics of team orientation as well as supporting the Camp Director and Head of Programs as necessary

    Head of Team Wellness
    The Head of Team Wellness is responsible for maintaining a positive, supportive working environment that promotes trust and allows for the entire camp community to thrive.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Providing crucial day-to-day social-emotional and wellness support for approximately 80 camp team members

    • Planning and executing team building/bonding programming during team orientation and throughout camp

    • Managing and creating systems to ensure My Dear Scout (a therapy service) is available to team members

    Head Counselors
    Head Counselors are responsible for team and camper management and ensuring all campers and team members feel physically and emotionally supported.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Holding team members accountable to their roles and responsibilities

    • Evaluating team members throughout the summer and providing additional support as needed

    • Supporting with camper relationship management and wellbeing

    Family Liaisons
    Additional off-season stipend
    for this position is $1,000 per month.
    Family Liaisons are responsible for overseeing all family communications and engagement before and during the camp season.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Assisting the Camp Director with enrollment and matriculation efforts including emails, phone calls, events, translations, and other related assignments on a part-time basis starting as early as March

    • Coordinating all family communications and answering any questions that may arise during camp

    Senior Team Fellow
    The Senior Team Fellow will serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, playing several different roles.

    Additional duties & responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver professional development trainings during team orientation and team meetings

    • Assist Head Counselors with ongoing team and camper issues

    • Assist the Head of Programs with a variety of program-related responsibilities (e.g., scheduling, evening program development and execution, facilities management, management of office team, procurement, etc.)

    • Assist the Camp Director in the day-to-day functions of campers, including family communication, management of the camp nurses, and vendor relations as well as ongoing communication and relationships with other members of the Senior Leadership Team

  • Dates for these positions: June 21–August 2, 2024
    The Health Center Team is responsible for ensuring the health, wellness, and safety of all campers and team members.

    Key duties & responsibilities across the Health Center Team include, but are not limited to:

    • Documenting all injuries and care rendered, including documentation of all over-the-counter medicines, first aid treatment, and communication with parents, doctors/nurse practitioners or any other off-camp facilities

    • Contacting parents of ill or injured campers and counselors (if appropriate) and updating them as necessary

    • Maintaining inventory of supplies

    • Keeping the Health Center clean and organized

    • Working directly with all Health Center team members and Nurses

    Required certifications and desired experience & skills:

    • Head Nurse and Nurses must be Registered Nurses; we will cover the cost for you to obtain a state license where camp is located

    • Experience and/or interest in working with youth ages 9–14

    • Ability to communicate effectively with families

    Head Nurse
    Summer salary
    for this position starts at $9,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Head Nurse reports to the Camp Director and supervises the Health Center Team. The Head Nurse works closely with the Senior Leadership Team as well as Change Summer’s CEO and Operations Team.

    Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Managing and delegating all Health Center administrative duties

    • Supervising and onboarding Health Center Nurses and Administrator

    • Overseeing general operations of the Health Center

    • Serving as the liaison between the Health Center Team and Senior Leadership Team members

    • Regularly updating and communicating with the Camp Director regarding Health Center operations, camper and team member care, and general camp health concerns

    • Supporting with pre-camp inventory ordering and management

    • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team to update and develop camp health and safety protocols

    • Assisting with the management and implementation of American Camp Association Standards pertaining to health, wellness, and safety

    • Administering camper prescription medications

    • Dispensing over-the-counter medications as appropriate

    • Assessing campers and counselors who are ill or injured and determining if further medical attention is needed

    • Assisting in stabilizing campers and counselors requiring transportation to medical facilities

    Nurses
    Summer salary
    for these positions starts at $6,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    Nurses report to the Head Nurse and Camp Director and work closely with the entire Health Center Team and Senior Leadership Team. All Nurses provide clinical care, maintain health records, and distribute medication as well as hugs and smiles!

    Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Administering camper prescription medications as directed

    • Dispensing over-the-counter medications as appropriate

    • Assessing campers and counselors who are ill or injured and determining if further medical attention is needed

    • Assisting in stabilizing campers and counselors requiring transportation to medical facilities

    Health Center Administrator
    Summer salary
    for this position starts at $4,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Health Center Administrator is responsible for organizing the logistics of the Health Center, including record-keeping and supplies.

    Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Managing camper and team member medical records

    • Organizing and replenishing Health Center supplies, ensuring the Health Center remains clean and neat, and keeping camper/staff medication organized

    • Making appointments with local clinics and hospitals for patient care as needed

    • Driving campers/team members to various appointments and purchasing necessary supplies out of camp as needed

  • Dates for these positions: June 28–August 2, 2024
    The Operations Team is responsible for all administrative logistics supporting day-to-day camp programming as well as pre-camp team orientation.

    Key duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Assisting with camper/family communication, including completing daily reports on each camper communication

    • Assuming any role on the team in case of emergency departure, unforeseen circumstances, or illness

    • Performing other related duties as required and assigned by the Camp Director and/or Senior Leadership Team

    Desired skills & experience:

    • A high school diploma; college degree or some college credit preferred

    Summer salary
    for this position starts at $4,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Office Manager is responsible for keeping the office organized, assisting in the day-to-day programming of camp including assisting in the set-up and implementation of all daytime and evening camp activities. They are also responsible for assisting with the logistics of team orientation as well as assisting the Camp Director and Head of Programs as necessary.

    Office Team Members
    Summer salary
    for these positions starts at $2,500 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    Office Team Members are crucial to the day-to-day operations of camp. Office Team Members carry out a variety of essential daily tasks such as printing or uploading family/camper messages, picking up or delivering materials on or off site, and assisting with the logistics of team orientation and camper arrival/departure. Applicants must be organized, operationally-minded, and mission-driven and have a solutions-oriented mindset and a valid driver’s license. Office Team Members report directly to the Head of Operations and Camp Director.

    Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator
    Summer salary
    for this position starts at $4,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator is responsible for capturing daily life at camp through photos and videos, organizing all content, and making content available to families through the online family portal and camp social media. Images will also be used for marketing and promotional purposes. The Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator will also lead an elective block. The Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator reports directly to the Camp Director and their designees.

    Assistant Photographer
    Summer salary for this position starts at $2,500 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Assistant Photographer is responsible for capturing daily life at camp and making images and videos available to parents through the online parent portal and social media. The Assistant Photographer works closely with the Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator.

  • Dates for these positions: June 28–August 2, 2024
    Summer salary for these positions starts at $5,250 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    Activity Department Heads are responsible for ensuring high-quality camp programming through lesson planning and professional development.

    Key duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Developing, facilitating, and participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Assisting with camper/family communication, including completing daily reports on each camper communication

    • Assuming any role on the team in case of emergency departure, unforeseen circumstances, or illness

    • Performing other related duties as required and assigned by the Camp Director and/or Senior Leadership Team

    The Head of Aquatics is responsible for designing, managing, and supervising camp’s swim program, including facilitation of swim tests and lessons for all campers. They are an important member of the camp team and responsible for ensuring camper safety around all water activities. Updated lifeguard/water certifications required.

    Head of Athletics
    The Head of Athletics role is crucial to the daily operation of sports-related activity and elective blocks (e.g., basketball, soccer, etc.). The Head of Athletics will ensure high-quality athletic programming through lesson plan creation and review, professional development for Activity Counselors, and regular observation and feedback cycles. The Head of Athletics will report to the Head of Programs and work with the athletics Activity Counselors and Head of Operations to order and maintain all necessary materials.

    Head of Inter-Arts
    The Head of Inter-Arts role is crucial to the daily operation of artistic expression-related activity and elective blocks (e.g., dance, drama, broadcasting etc.). The Head of Inter-Arts will ensure high-quality arts programming through lesson plan creation and review, professional development for Activity Counselors, and regular observation and feedback cycles. The Head of Inter-Arts will report to the Head of Programs and work with the inter-arts Activity Counselors and Head of Operations to order and maintain all necessary materials.

    Summer salary for these positions starts at $2,500–4,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    Activity Counselors serve as key members of the camp team and participate in professional development training during team orientation and team meetings. Activity Counselors play a crucial role in each camper's experience by planning and facilitating activities that encourage campers to develop deeper levels of confidence, curiosity, independence, and responsibility. Activity Counselors also partner with Group Counselors to support campers when they are not leading an activity or elective block. Activity Counselors report directly to the Camp Director and work closely with their Activity Department Head.

    Key duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Leading and participating in all camp activities and ensuring that standards are met and campers are safe and happy

    • Assisting with camper/family communication, including completing daily reports on each camper communication

    Group Counselors serve as key members of the camp team and participate in professional development training during team orientation and team meetings. The primary responsibility of a Group Counselor is to manage a group of campers each day as they participate in various activities and program areas. Group Counselors are responsible for campers’ physical and emotional safety and must ensure that campers feel supported. Group Counselors live with campers and encourage them to participate in all activities, make lasting friendships, and build their confidence, curiosity, independence, and responsibility. Group Counselors report directly to the Camp Director and the Camp Director’s designees.

    Key duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Participating in all camp activities and ensuring that standards are met and campers are safe and happy
