Lauren Pitcairn, Director of AF Camp

Lauren is passionate about crafting meaningful, high-quality summer experiences that foster confidence, responsibility, curiosity, and independence in students. With over 20 years of experience working with youth and young adults, she has guided and mentored young people in both educational and nonprofit settings. Throughout her career, Lauren has played a key role in coaching and supporting young leaders, including helping to establish leadership programs for high school and college students.

A proud San Diego native, Lauren holds degrees from Florida A&M University, where she earned both a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate. She credits her HBCU experience with shaping her dedication and leadership skills. Lauren’s passion for summer camp is rooted in her own childhood experiences, where she first discovered the value of independence. After previously serving as Head Counselor at AF Camp, Lauren was inspired by the positive impact on both campers and staff. This experience fueled her commitment to creating inclusive and memorable summer camp opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds.
